Volunteer with AVIVA

After your course, you could add even more to your stay in South Africa by volunteering with AVIVA on one of their rewarding wildlife conservation or community projects. It is a chance to contribute and learn – as well as use the English or Afrikaans you have learned at inlingua.

You can choose to volunteer on the following projects:

  • playing an active role in the development of young children at an orphanage in Khayelitsha
  • learning about a wide variety of primate species at Monkey Town
  • contributing to the future of the endangered African Penguin,
  • assisting with environmental education camps for disadvantaged children
  • assisting with the running of a wildlife rehabilitation centre
  • perhaps learning how to surf or
  • becoming part of the family at South Africa's permaculture and new age centre, Rustlers Valley Mountain Retreat...

Most of AVIVA's projects include orientation activities in Cape Town as well as the volunteering experience, where you can enjoy the beautiful Western Cape as you are introduced to South Africa’s diverse cultures, people and history before or during your chosen project. Your volunteering experience will be rewarding and immensely enjoyable.

AVIVA also includes in-country transfers, accommodation and even meals on some projects.

All the staff take pride in the personal, friendly and professional service that they provide to their volunteers, who will have excellent support throughout their stay.

Previous volunteers say…

“What an experience!!! Thank you AVIVA for making it possible for me. I miss ‘my’ baboons etc already!”
Sari Lehtinen – Finland

“Thanks AVIVA for a fantastic time. Your helpfulness has been much appreciated, keep up the good work! Hope to see you again”
